Capstone commissions 192 MW wind farm in Alberta

Capstone Infrastructure Corporation has announced the commissioning of 192 MW Wild Rose 2 Wind Farm located in Cypress County, Alberta. The Capstone subsidiary Wild Rose 2 Wind Inc. constructed, owns, and operates the project. The project is expected to offset about 250,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Capstone signed a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pembina Pipeline for 105 MW of renewable energy and attributes. 

Additionally, the company has signed a 20-year renewable attributes purchase agreement (RAPA) with the City of Edmonton for the supply of 78 MW of renewable attributes. The RAPA forms a part of Edmonton’s Community Energy Transition Strategy, which sets targets for achieving carbon neutrality in municipal operations by 2040 and net zero greenhouse gas emissions across the city by 2050.
