O2 Power has been awarded an 800 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project under the competitive bidding process conducted by the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) under the Firm and Dispatchable Renewable Energy (FDRE) Tranche VI. The project, located near an operational central transmission utility infrastructure substation in Rajasthan, combines battery storage with solar components to ensure reliable power supply during non-solar peak hours.
The project utilises Rajasthan’s abundant solar and land resources while leveraging existing evacuation infrastructure to reduce delays. It is expected to be commissioned within 24 months of signing the power purchase agreement (PPA).
In the same month, Altra Xergi Power, a subsidiary of O2 Power, secured 200 MW in SECI’s auction for 8,000 MWh of peak renewable energy supply from ISTS-connected projects under FDRE-VI at a tariff of Rs 8.50 per kWh.
