Gensol secures Rs 7.8 billion contract for 150 MW solar project in Maharashtra

Gensol Engineering Limited has secured an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contract valued at Rs 7.8 billion for a 150 MW ground-mounted solar photovoltaic (PV) power plant in Maharashtra. Awarded by a major public sector utility, the project encompasses the full scope of solar plant development and will be completed over a 15-month period.

Under the contract, Gensol’s responsibilities include end-to-end project management, from land acquisition to commissioning. This includes the design, engineering, procurement, logistics, manufacturing, and supply processes. Gensol will also oversee the plant’s erection, installation, testing, and commissioning, including developing the necessary power evacuation infrastructure connected to the State Transmission Utility (STU) substation. Additionally, Gensol will provide operations and maintenance (O&M) services for three years, covering both the plant’s switchyard and the associated transmission infrastructure.

The project aligns with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s (MNRE) policies introduced in April 2022, supporting Maharashtra’s energy infrastructure expansion.

In October 2024, Gensol Engineering Limited bagged a contract from a major UAE sustainable development and clean energy company to design, construct, and provide long-term operation and maintenance for rooftop solar PV systems with a cumulative capacity of 23.178 MW for a leading aviation company’s facility in Dubai.
