SECI invites bids for 1,200 MW wind-solar hybrid projects

The Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) has issued a request for proposals to set up 1,200 MW inter-state transmission connected wind-solar hybrid projects, tranche VIII. The projects will be located in India.

The bidders are required to submit minimum and maximum bid size of 50 MW and 600 MW, respectively. The projects must be completed within 24 months of the power purchase agreement (PPA) being signed. The bid submission deadline is March 29, 2024.

The rated installed capacity for each of the two components must be a minimum of 33 per cent of the contracted capacity. The declared annual capacity utilisation factor (CUF) should be at least 30 per cent. During the PPA duration of 25 years, the winning developers are required to maintain annual CUF ranging between 90 per cent and 120 per cent of the declared value. Furthermore, SECI has mandated the use of indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in list-I of the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers. Additionally, under the tender, only type-certified wind-turbine models issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers will be allowed.

Recently, in February 2024, SECI issued a tender for the establishment of cumulative 4,000 MW off-shore wind energy off the coast of Tamil Nadu.

In January 2024, the SECI issued a tender to develop 1,500 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected solar projects, tranche XIV, in India.
