Gujarat signs MoU with international companies for adding clean energy capacity

Gujarat has entered into MoUs with MeOH Giga Battery from Australia and Australian Premium Solar Pty Ltd. The aim is to expedite the achievement of its renewable energy capacity. Welspun and Kiri Industries, have also partnered with German firms Lili Navitas and Sundronix. These agreements will provide opportunities for Gujarat to export green ammonia and hydrogen to Europe.

Additionally, the Gujarat government has unveiled a land allocation plan that provides a number of advantages to companies funding the state’s green hydrogen initiatives. As per the policy, within five years of plant commissioning, companies must reach 50 per cent of their green hydrogen production capacity, and within eight years, companies must reach 100 per cent of their capacity.

In October 2023, Gujarat introduced its renewable energy policy with a primary emphasis on harnessing the state’s substantial potential of 36 GW in solar and 143 GW in wind capacity. The policy aims to facilitate development of 100 GW of cumulative renewable energy capacity by 2030 with investments of around Rs 5,000 billion by utilising approximately 400,000 acres of land.
