Sterlite Power bags 8 GW clean transmission project

Sterlite Power has been awarded the contract for the transmission project in Rajasthan’s renewable energy zone (REZ), phase IV (Bikaner complex). The company, which won the project as a part of tariff-based competitive bidding process, will develop the project on the basis of build, own, operate, and transfer model for a timeframe of 35 years. Securing this contract marks Sterlite Power’s third green energy corridor (GEC) project within the state of Rajasthan.

The project entails building two essential parts: establishing a 6,000 MVA, 765/400 kV substation at Neemrana, constructing two 400 kV transmission lines covering approximately 250 km. These lines will link Neemrana to the current Kotputli substation. Another corridor is planned to connect the existing Gurgaon-Sohna line with both Gurgaon and Sohna substations. This project aims to facilitate the transmission of approximately 8,000 MW of renewable energy from Bikaner to load centers in Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. Together, these three GEC projects involve building a transmission corridor spanning approximately 950 km across Rajasthan.

In September 2023, Sterlite Power announced the acquisition of Beawer Transmission Limited for setting up clean energy transmission project in Rajasthan.
