NTPC invites EoI for 15 GW solar modules supply

NTPC Renewables, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NTPC Limited, has invited expressions of interest (EoI) to form strategic tie-ups for sourcing solar modules for a total capacity of 15 GW over a period of five years. The goal of the EoI is to assess the upcoming capacity of domestic solar module manufacturers, as well as their technological and commercial requirements, in order to begin the process of long-term sourcing collaborations. The bid submission deadline is November 8, 2021.

The sourced modules can have cells either manufactured domestically or sourced from anywhere in the world. The tender is open to any Indian firm, consortia, or affiliates that have previously established or plan to establish a manufacturing base in India under the government’s production-linked incentive (PLI) programme in the next six months. The company is also interested in long-term contract manufacturing tie-ups with module manufacturers as part of strategic sourcing tie-ups, and would like to acquire a thorough framework as part of the EoI.

Earlier this month, NTPC signed an MoU with the global energy giant EDF to explore potential power project development prospects overseas and also collaborate on research and development, technical services, and consultancy assignments on a global scale. The primary markets of interest for the companies are Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa. This partnership would help NTPC in expanding its portfolio of power generation assets globally and support the development of clean energy projects worldwide.
