NTPC issues BoS tender for 1.2 GW wind project

NTPC Renewable Energy Limited has issued a request for proposals (RfPs) for balance-of-system (BoS) package to set up 1,200 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected wind projects with an additional greenshoe option of 300 MW. The projects will be set up at Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work under the project includes designing, engineering, micro-sitting, manufacture, supply, erection, testing, commissioning, and validation of guaranteed performance parameters. This involves installing the wind farm, starting from the 33 kV internal evacuation lines from the unit substation, pooling substation, central monitoring and control station, wind monitoring mast, external extra high voltage transmission line, extending to ISTS substation.

To be eligible, prospective bidders must have experience in securing land and conducting micro-siting for wind turbines, along with implementing wind power projects, achieving a combined installed capacity of 40 MW or greater. Additionally, at least one of these projects should have had a capacity exceeding 10 MW and been operational for a minimum of six months prior to the bid opening date. Additionally, under the tender, wind turbine generators must be issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, listed in Revised list of Models and Manufacturers.

Recently, in November 2023, NTPC REL issued RfPs for BoS package to set up 1,200 MW ISTS-connected wind projects with an additional greenshoe option of 300 MW in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. In the same month, NTPC REL issued BoS package tender for 1,080 MW ISTS-connected wind project in Karnataka.
