The Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency has issued the state’s Solar Energy Policy, 2019. The policy targets 9 GW of installed solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity in Tamil Nadu by 2023. The policy also aims to produce 40 per cent of the targeted capacity from distributed generation. To incentivise the residential segment, the state has exempted electricity tax for two years from the issue of the policy.
