Atmos Renewables reaches financial closure for 870 MW wind and BESS projects in Australia

Atmos Renewables, the Australian renewables business of Igneo Infrastructure Partners, has reached financial closure on two projects supported by the Australian Government’s Capacity Investment Scheme (CIS). The projects are the 400 MW/1,600 MWh Teebar battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Queensland and the 470 MW Parron Maam Marang wind farm in Western Australia. Along with the 100 MW/400 MWh Merredin BESS project, which reached financial close in June 2025, Atmos has now taken 970 MW of CIS-supported capacity through financial close.

The Teebar BESS is located next to Powerlink’s Teebar Creek substation in Queensland’s Fraser Coast region, and will provide four hours of energy storage. It will store electricity when supply is high and despatch it when demand is higher. The Parron Maam Marang wind farm is located in Western Australia’s Wheatbelt region and will supply renewable electricity under a long-term power purchase agreement with Synergy, a Western Australian electricity retailer.

Moreover, Atmos will retain ownership of both projects during construction, and operate them once completed. The two projects form part of Atmos’ portfolio of wind, solar and storage assets, which already includes more than 1.5 GW of operating and in-construction capacity.
