MHI invites bids to set up 10 GWh ACC manufacturing facilities

The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) has invited bids through a global tender to select beneficiaries for setting up giga-scale advanced chemistry cell (ACC) manufacturing facilities in India. The projects will have a cumulative manufacturing capacity of 10 GWh and will be developed for grid-scale stationary storage applications under the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for ACC battery storage.

Furthermore, the bidding process will be conducted online through the central public procurement portal using a two-stage quality and cost-based selection process. The deadline for bid submission is October 13, 2026, while the technical bids will be opened on October 14, 2026.

The PLI Scheme for ACC battery storage was approved by the Union Cabinet in May 2021 with a budget outlay of Rs 181 billion to establish 50 GWh of domestic ACC manufacturing capacity. Of the total targeted 50 GWh capacity under the scheme, 40 GWh has been awarded to domestic manufacturers.
