Cairn Oil & Gas and Serentica ink agreement for captive renewable hybrid power supply

Cairn Oil & Gas, part of Vedanta Group, has commenced sourcing 25 MW of captive renewable hybrid power in partnership with Serentica Renewables India Private Limited. The companies have entered into a power delivery agreement to support operations at Cairn’s Mangala facility in Barmer, Rajasthan. Under this arrangement, 20 per cent of the power requirement for the oil field will be met through hybrid renewable energy.

The renewable power is being supplied from Serentica Renewables’ Gadag project in Karnataka, utilising a combination of solar and wind energy. The agreement is structured for a 70 per cent capacity utilisation factor and is expected to generate approximately 153 million units of renewable energy annually. Moreover, it is projected to reduce operational carbon emissions by around 115 kilotonnes annually, and is intended to support compliance with renewable purchase obligations.

In April 2026, Serentica Renewables inked a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) with Sanathan Polycot Private Limited (SPPL), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sanathan Textiles Limited. Under the arrangement, a special purpose vehicle has been set up to supply 32 MW of hybrid, round-the-clock renewable energy, with SPPL holding a 26 per cent stake. The remaining stake will be owned by Serentica Renewables.
