The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued revised timelines for projects under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) scheme following requests from stakeholders seeking extensions beyond March 31, 2026. These requests were primarily due to delays in securing loans, as banks and financial institutions were reportedly unable to extend financing within the existing timelines.
Furthermore, states have been asked to coordinate with financial institutions to facilitate lending and expedite financial closure of ongoing projects. For projects where power purchase agreements or notices to proceed have been issued on or before December 31, 2025, revised deadlines have been defined. Financial closure for Component A and Component C (Feeder Level Solarisation) projects has been extended until September 30, 2026, while commissioning for these components is now scheduled for completion by March 31, 2027. Additionally, for Component B and Component C (Individual Pump Solarisation) under PM KUSUM, the commissioning deadline has been set at September 30, 2026. Moreover, any further extension beyond the specified deadlines will be considered only on a case-to-case basis.
In March 2026, the MNRE proposed to introduce the Approved List of Modules and Manufacturers (ALMM) List-III for solar wafers, which will come into effect from June 1, 2028. As per the proposal, ALMM List-III will include only those manufacturers that have at least three independent wafer manufacturing units, with a combined capacity of at least 15 GW per year. These units must not be under common ownership or control.
