BEL floats bids to establish 4-5 MW wind projects in Karnataka

Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has requested bids to establish a wind plant with a capacity of 4 MW to 5 MW in Karnataka. The chosen developer must also oversee the project’s overall operation and maintenance (O&M) for a period of 25 years. After obtaining the work order, the project should be completed within 15 months. According to the tender guidelines, the bidders must submit Rs 1 million as an earnest money deposit.

As a performance bank guarantee, the successful bidder must pay 10 per cent of the entire order value. Before the warranty period expires, the developer must produce a performance bank guarantee in the amount of Rs 4 million. The guarantee must be valid for one year and must be renewed annually or extended for up to eight years beyond the ten-year post-warranty term. The wind turbines used in the project should be procured from suppliers listed in the Revised List of Models and Manufacturers issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). The deadline for proposal submissions is April 10, 2023.

In October 2022, Triton Electric Vehicle India signed a Letter of Intent with BEL to purchase 300 kW lithium-ion battery packs for semi-truck projects in India. The contract for the battery pack is worth approximately Rs 80.6 billion. According to the contract, BEL will be delivering battery packs to Triton within 24 months and these battery packs will be manufactured at BEL’s Pune facility.
