Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy ink cross-border VPPA in Bulgaria

Etem Gestamp and Rezolv Energy have entered into a 10-year cross border virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) in Bulgaria. Under this arrangement, Etem Gestamp will procure electricity from Rezolv Energy’s 461 MW VIFOR wind farm, located in Buzău County, Romania, which is nearing commissioning. The agreement represents Rezolv Energy’s seventh PPA across Romania and Bulgaria.

In October 2025, R-ENGINEERING EAD, a subsidiary of Rezolv Energy, secured funding from the European Union to deploy a 90 MW/240.768 MWh BESS at the St. George solar power plant in Bulgaria. It is expected to be completed and commissioned by March 2026, with half of the total project cost being financed under the NextGenerationEU initiative.

In January 2026, ContourGlobal commissioned a 202 MW/500 MWh standalone BESS in the Stara Zagora region of Bulgaria. The facility is fully operational and is participating in the country’s day-ahead and intraday electricity markets. Located on a 25,000 square metre site within the Maritsa East 3 coal-fired power plant complex, the project is funded through the European Union’s NextGeneration EU programme.
