Rezolv Energy wins 731.2 MW in Romania’s CfD auction

Rezolv Energy has secured three contracts for difference (CfDs) in the country’s second CfD auction. The contracts have been secured from the Romanian Ministry of Energy. The combined capacity of the winning bids is 731.2 MW, and covers the Dama solar photovoltaic project in Arad County and the Dunarea East wind farm in Constanța County.

The first two bids, submitted by West Power Investments, were for the 1,044 MW Dama Solar project. The third bid, submitted by Midmar Callatis, was for the 300 MW Dunarea East wind project. These awards follow Rezolv Energy’s earlier success in Romania’s first CfD auction, where it secured 240 MW of capacity from the VIFOR wind farm in Buzău County.

In December 2024, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) inked a MoU with Romania’s Ministry of Energy to assist in the planning and execution of future renewable energy auctions in Romania. The first auction was opened in September 2024 for 1.5 GW of renewable energy generation capacities comprising 500 MW of solar PV and 1 GW of onshore wind. This was coupled with the CfD mechanism to support the development of renewable energy installations.
