TAQA Morocco and Moeve ink agreement for green hydrogen project

TAQA Morocco and Moeve have signed a preliminary land reservation agreement with the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco under the country’s Green Hydrogen Offer. The two companies were selected in 2025 as a consortium to develop a large-scale project focused on producing green ammonia and industrial fuel in the southern regions of Morocco. The signing of the land agreement will enable the commencement of feasibility studies.

Under the agreement, TAQA Morocco, which operates across the energy, water, and infrastructure sectors in the Kingdom of Morocco, will oversee the renewable energy generation component. The renewable facilities will be developed at a site located in the Dakhla region. Moeve will be responsible for the production and marketing of e-fuels, with activities centred at the port of Jorf Lasfar.

In January 2026, Moeve and Pretium Renovables entered into an agreement to develop between four and six biomethane plants in Spain. Each plant is planned with an estimated annual production capacity of 60 GWh. The projects are expected to be rolled out across multiple regions, with Andalusia identified as the priority area for initial development. Each biomethane plant is projected to offset around 14,600 tonnes of carbon emissions annually.
