Ramneek Sehgal: Chairman and Managing Director, Ceigall India Limited

Ramneek Sehgal is currently serving as chairman and managing director at Ceigall India Limited. He says that Ceigall’s goal in the renewables sector is to move from being a new entrant to a scaled, credible platform with at least 1 GW of capacity in the near term, and a meaningful, stable share of group revenues over the medium term. The focus is on building a portfolio that combines highquality solar and storage assets with strong power purchase agreements, expanding into attractive states and adjacencies such as battery energy storage systems (BESS) and transmission and distribution segments, and doing this in a disciplined way that fits their longterm return and risk framework.

“Personally, the ambition is to help shape Ceigall into a sustainable infrastructure company – one that is known not only for executing complex highways, but also for developing bankable, longlife renewable assets that contribute visibly to India’s energy transition,” says Sehgal.

Sehgal shares that the biggest challenges in the renewables sector are still executional rather than technical. Land acquisition, approvals and right-of-way often take longer than construction, and gridevacuation readiness does not always match the pace of project awards. On top of this, aggressive tariffs, payment risks at the discom level and the need to build a reliable supply chain and operations and maintenance (O&M) ecosystems in remote sites make disciplined planning, partnerships and cost control absolutely critical.

“Ceigall is prioritising technologies and partnerships that directly improve project reliability, bankability and lifecycle performance in solar and storage segments. We are focusing on highefficiency PV modules, intelligent inverters and utilityscale BESS solutions, complemented by robust SCADA and digital O&M platforms for realtime monitoring and predictive maintenance.” says Sehgal.

He adds that Ceigall follows a professional, governance-first approach to leadership. Only one member of the promoter family serves on the Board; all other directors are independent or professional leaders, and key management roles are awarded strictly on the basis of expertise, track record and performance rather than family affiliation. “Across the organisation, the focus is on maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance, transparency and accountability, so that decisionmaking remains disciplined, meritdriven and aligned with longterm value creation for all stakeholders,” he says.
