Power Minister inaugurates NTPC’s 3 MWh VRFB project in Uttar Pradesh

Union Minister for Power Manohar Lal has inaugurated NTPC’s  3 MWh vanadium redox flow battery (VRFB) project. Developed under NTPC’s in-house research and development (R&D) initiative, the project was inaugurated at the NTPC Energy Technology Research Alliance, NTPC’s R&D centre in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Moreover, the initiative marks a significant milestone in advancing India’s long-duration energy storage capabilities, aimed at strengthening renewable energy integration and improving grid stability.

Earlier in September 2025, NTPC floated an engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) tender to set up a 2 MW solar project.

Furthermore, in August 2025, NTPC Renewable Energy Limited issued an EPC tender for the development of a 300 MW interstate transmission system connected ground-mounted solar project.
