Advanced Power sells 200 MW BESS project in Texas

Advanced Power has completed the sale of Rock Rose Energy Storage LLC. The Rock Rose Energy Storage project is a standalone 200 MW/400 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) project located in Fort Bend County, Texas. Advanced Power received financial advisory support from PEI Global Partners for the transaction.

The project is scheduled to commence operations in 2027, and is situated within the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) region. Once operational, it is expected to support grid reliability and meet increasing electricity demand in the Houston and Freeport areas. The BESS project is designed to store surplus electricity and deliver it during high-demand periods to stabilise grid operations.

In January 2025, Advanced Power announced the closing of a $100 million corporate credit facility to support its goals of advancing a sustainable and reliable energy future through investments in renewables, BESS, high-efficiency combined-cycle gas turbine facilities, and modern peaker units. The transaction was advised by PEI Global Partners, with Linklaters LLP and Nixon Peabody as legal counsel.
