Sembcorp Industries (Sembcorp), through its wholly owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Green Infra Private Limited (SGIPL), has inked a share purchase agreement with ReNew Private Limited. Under this agreement, the company will completely acquire ReNew Sun Bright Private Limited for a total consideration of around S$246 million.
Furthermore, the acquisition will be financed through a mix of internal cash resources and external borrowings. Its completion is expected in the first half of 2026 and is subject to conditions precedent, including regulatory approvals. Additionally, this completion will increase Sembcorp’s gross renewable energy capacity installed and under development in India to 6.9 GW
ReNew Sun Bright owns and operates a 300 MW solar power project situated in Rajasthan, which began commercial operations in November 2021. The plant is connected to the national grid through the inter-state transmission system. Furthermore, the project operates under a 25-year power purchase agreement inked with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited.
Earlier in May 2025, Sembcorp, through SGIPL, was awarded a 150 MW solar power project integrated with a 300 MWh battery energy storage system by SJVN Limited.
