ACWA Power and L&T ink MoU for Saudi green ammonia project

ACWA Power has signed a MoU with Larsen & Toubro’s (L&T) renewables division for the renewables and grid scope of the Yanbu green ammonia project in Saudi Arabia. The Yanbu project is being developed as a fully integrated hub with captive renewable electricity generation based entirely on solar and wind energy.

The scope of the agreement includes multiple facilities such as solar photovoltaic plants, wind projects, battery energy storage systems, substations, and transmission infrastructure. The MoU outlines cooperation to develop the design, configuration, and performance requirements for the renewables and grid components. Additionally, it includes a commitment for L&T to take up an engineering, procurement, and construction contract once the final plan is approved.

In July 2025, ACWA Power signed multiple agreements with international partners to establish a renewable energy and green hydrogen supply channel from Saudi Arabia to Europe, including a multi-party MoU with Edison S.p.A., Zhero Europe B.V., TotalEnergies Renewables SAS, and EnBW. Furthermore, a joint development agreement with EnBW was signed for the first phase of the Yanbu green hydrogen hub.
