Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) Group has selected Siemens Gamesa to provide 35 turbines of 14 MW each for the 495 MW Formosa 4 offshore wind project located off the west coast of Taiwan. The turbines will be supplied from the company’s nacelle production facility in Taichung.
Situated off Miaoli County, the Formosa 4 project was allocated capacity in the first auction round of Phase 3 Zonal Development in 2022. It received its establishment permit in late 2024, becoming the first among the first-round auction winners to secure this approval. Once operational, the wind farm is expected to generate electricity sufficient to meet the annual needs of about 500,000 households.
In August 2025, The 640 MW Yunlin offshore wind farm started commercial operations which is located in the Taiwan Strait, 8 to 17 km off the west coast. The project comprises 80 wind turbine generators. The wind farm has obtained the required electricity business licences, complied with regulatory requirements, and met contractual obligations under its financing agreement.
In August 2025, Siemens Gamesa signed a capacity reservation agreement with Luxcara to supply 97 turbines of 15.5 MW each for the 1.5 GW Waterekke offshore wind project in the German North Sea. The project is reportedly scheduled for commissioning in 2029.
