Diamond Infrastructure and Third Pillar ink agreement for floating solar in Texas

Diamond Infrastructure Solutions has signed an agreement with Third Pillar Solar, granting access to its Texas reservoir system for the assessment and potential deployment of utility-scale floating solar projects. The collaboration is expected to reach a capacity of up to 500 MW. The projects will utilise unused reservoir surfaces to generate clean energy along with reducing freshwater loss from evaporation.

The project reportedly represents an investment of more than $700 million. Construction and deployment of the projects are scheduled to be completed before the end of the decade. Furthermore, Diamond Infrastructure Solutions and Third Pillar Solar will work together on local supply chain opportunities, combining their expertise to support project delivery.

Third Pillar Solar, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Houston, Texas, is a renewable energy company that develops, owns, and operates floating solar projects. The company deployed solar installations on underutilised waterbodies. It has been involved in more than 5 GW of renewable energy project deployments. Currently, the company has a development pipeline of over 60 projects across several US states.
