Envision Energy’s 5 MW turbine model secures RLMM approval

Envision Energy India’s wind turbine model EN-182/5.0 50 Hz TC has received approval under the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM). The turbine features a 181 metre rotor diameter, 105.56 metre hub height, 89 metre blades, and a tubular steel tower. It has received the Type Certificate IEC61400-22:2010 from DNV, valid until February 16, 2026. RLMM listing is mandatory for original equipment manufacturers to commercially supply wind turbines in India.

The company has booked a 2,000 MW order book for the EN-182/5 MW turbine from various independent power producers, with deliveries scheduled to begin in the third quarter of the 2025. Manufacturing facilities for blades at Tiruchirappalli and for nacelle and hub at Pune are preparing to fulfil the upcoming deliveries. The new turbine offers an enhanced annual energy production of over 40 per cent compared to the EN-156/3.3 MW turbine. It features a larger swept area as compared to the EN-156/3.3 MW turbine, and can operate at ambient temperatures of up to 50°C.

Additionally, the EN-182/5 MW turbine features smoke and fire detection systems. Envision Energy is reportedly increasing its localisation level from 60 per cent on the older 3.3 MW turbine platform to 80 per cent on the new one. This shift is aimed at reinforcing the domestic supply chain and ensuring greater manufacturing resilience for utility-scale wind projects in India.
