Juniper Green Energy commissions 100 MW solar project for power supply to Bhutan

Juniper Green Energy has commissioned a 100 MW solar power project in Rajasthan to facilitate cross-border electricity supply to Bhutan under a bilateral trade framework. The project is designed to provide 50 per cent of its generated power to Bhutan during the winter months, addressing seasonal energy shortages.

This initiative strengthens regional energy cooperation, allowing Bhutan to directly import power from an Indian generator without intermediaries. Moreover, as per the company statement, it also contributes to strengthening economic and energy ties between neighbouring countries, reinforcing long-term stability in cross-border electricity trade.

In February 2025, Juniper Green Energy secured $1 billion in phased debt financing from leading financial institutions, including PFC, DBS Bank, HSBC Bank, and IREDA, to develop wind-solar hybrid and firm and dispatchable renewable energy projects across key Indian states while scaling up operations and expanding its portfolio.
