EESL and DVC partner to enhance energy efficiency and clean energy initiatives

Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of NTPC, REC Limited, Power Finance Corporation Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India under the Ministry of Power, has signed a MoU with Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) to advance energy efficiency, renewable energy, e-mobility, and resource conservation. EESL will support DVC in implementing energy efficiency programmes, including the Street Lights National Programme (SLNP), energy-efficient building solutions, and decentralised solar initiatives such as rooftop installations, solar carports, and hybrid thermal solar systems.

The partnership will also drive the adoption of electric mobility solutions, including electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, alongside smart metering and trigeneration projects for optimised energy utilisation. Under the National Motor Replacement Programme, inefficient motors and pumps will be replaced with energy-efficient alternatives, and comprehensive energy audits will identify further efficiency measures.

Further efforts will focus on demand flexibility solutions for grid stability, clean cooking solutions, and battery energy storage systems, covering both short-duration (Lithium-ion Phosphate) and long-duration (Zinc Electrolyte) technologies. Procurement processes will be streamlined for efficiency, while project management and consultancy services will ensure smooth implementation. Corporate social responsibility initiatives will prioritise sustainability and community-driven programmes, supported by training and capacity-building efforts.
