Yokogawa Electric Corporation has unveiled the OpreXTM Subsea Power Cable Monitoring, a system for monitoring cables used in electricity transmission at offshore wind power facilities. It helps in damage detection and condition-based maintenance on offshore wind farms. It further reduces operational costs for inspection and maintenance by constantly monitoring damage-induced temperature increases in the subsea power cables. OpreX Subsea Power Cable Monitoring utilises Yokogawa’s fibre optic temperature sensor to monitor and pinpoint abnormalities in the temperature of subsea power cables. This aids condition-based maintenance, where maintenance is performed with optimum timing and maximised operational efficiency. It cuts down on the costs and workload required for regular inspections and maintenance. The technology can be applied to both new and existing offshore wind farms. This product can also be integrated with Yokogawa’s OpreX Collaborative Information Server alongside video monitoring and other solutions.
