UPNEDA invites EoIs for 1.3 GW solar projects in Uttar Pradesh

The Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) has invited expressions of interest (EoIs) for 1,300 MW of solar power projects to be developed in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The projects will be established on a build-own-operate basis in the Garautha and Mauranipur tehsils, utilising 5,508 acres of land. The land includes 957 acres of government-owned property, which will be leased to developers for 30 years, and 4,551 acres of private land to be arranged by the developers. The sites also incorporate wastelands.

Government land will be allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis at lease rates outlined in the Solar Energy Policy 2022. Developers are required to survey, design, supply, install, test, and commission the projects. They must also operate and maintain the special purpose vehicles set up for these projects and connect them to the nearest substations of the state transmission utility or distribution company. Successful developers will be responsible for securing and maintaining all necessary consents, clearances, permits, and approvals throughout the lease period. Additionally, they must independently arrange power procurement.

Earlier this month, UPNEDA invited EoIs to develop floating solar projects across 35 dams and reservoirs in the state, with successful bidders required to survey, design, supply, install, test, and commission the floating solar projects, and ensure grid connectivity to the nearest substation.
