Port of Açu and Yamna ink land agreement for green ammonia plant in Brazil

Port of Açu Operações (Port of Açu) and Yamna Co Ltd (Yamna) have inked a land reservation agreement for the development of a green ammonia project. This agreement is inked for a new hub for low-carbon hydrogen and its derivatives in the port industrial complex of Port of Açu in the northeast of Rio de Janeiro State. As part of this agreement, the Port of Açu is reserving two million square meters for green hydrogen projects.

Furthermore, this new area will add to the 1 million square meters already licensed at the port. This port is privately owned by Prumo Logística and Port of Antwerp-Bruges International. It also plays an active role in the mining and port logistics sector. Additionally, Yamna plans for the new plant to have a production capacity of up to one million tons per year. It aims to make a final investment decision by 2027 and start production of its first green molecules in 2030.

Port of Açu is a part of the Prumo Group. In collaboration with the Port of Antwerp-Bruges International and under the guidance of EIG Partners, it oversees the development and management of the Açu port complex. Yamna is a company focused on developing and investing in green hydrogen and its derivatives. It is building a worldwide portfolio of assets strategically positioned to produce green hydrogen and derivatives in the most viable locations to meet the increasing demand for sustainable alternatives to the fossil fuel economy.
