GUVNL announces winners of 500 MW/1,000 MWh BESS auction

Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL) has declared the winners of its 500 MW/1,000 MWh standalone battery energy storage systems (BESS) auction (phase IV). H.G Infra Engineering won 250 MW at a tariff of Rs 225,985/MW/month and Advait Infratech bagged 50 MW at Rs 226,000/MW/ month. Kintech Synergy and Bhilwara Energy were allotted 100 MW each at a tariff of Rs 225,985/MW/month and Rs 225,993/MW/month respectively.

The tender was initially floated in October 2024 for 400 MW/800 MWh with a greenshoe option of 400 MW/800 MWh. Its capacity was increased after the introduction of viability gap funding support to 500 MW/1000 MWh. The VGF is capped at Rs 2.7 million/MWh or 30 per cent of the project’s capital cost, whichever would be lower for this tender.

In October 2024, GUVNL declared the results of its auction for 200 MW of grid-connected wind power projects in India under Phase VIII. Juniper Green Energy won a capacity of 50 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.56 per kWh, RIH Renewables secured 40 MW at Rs 3.59 per kWh, and Jakson Green was awarded 50 MW at a tariff of Rs 3.63 per kWh.
