HyOrc and PRIO BIO ink green methanol offtake agreement in Portugal

HyOrc Corporation and PRIO BIO, S.A. have executed an exclusive commercial term sheet for the offtake of green methanol from HyOrc’s planned pilot production facility in Porto, Portugal. The agreement covers a period of 10 years and includes supply of up to around 2,800 tonnes of waste-based green methanol annually. The volumes will be produced from HyOrc’s initial module with a capacity of 8 tonnes per day (TPD). The facility is targeted to begin commercial operations at the start of 2027

The project is intended to supply certified renewable fuel to maritime and industrial markets in Europe. Moreover, the modular configuration allows capacity to increase gradually based on contracted demand and evolving regulatory requirements in European fuel markets. HyOrc Corporation has already completed front-end engineering work for an expansion phase involving a green methanol production facility with a capacity of 80 TPD, also planned in Portugal.

In October 2025, HyOrc Corporation and Start Lda executed a shareholders agreement to establish a 50:50 joint venture (JV) company, HyOrc Start Green Fuels, to develop a network of waste-to-green methanol plants. The JV has initiated preparations for a 35 TPD municipal waste–refuse derived fuel gasification unit while permitting and site development activities progress in Porto, Portugal.
