Hygenco Green Energies floats tender for 1.1 GW Green Ammonia project

Hygenco Green Energies Private Limited has floated a tender inviting bids for 1,125 MW of renewable energy, for supplying power to its upcoming Green Ammonia Project. Currently, it is the largest tender for procuring renewable power for a green ammonia project in India. Hygenco expects to procure 625 MW from solar photovoltaic projects and 500 MW through wind power.

The large-scale procurement will also contribute to India’s transition toward a low-carbon economy. It also gives a significant fillip to the National Green Hydrogen Mission, which is aiming to make India a Green Hydrogen Hub by 2030. Globally, the green ammonia market is projected to grow to $17.9 billion by 2030, as industries shift away from fossil fuels.

In September 2024, Hygenco Green Energies and REC limited inked a MoU at the 4th Global Renewable energy Investors meet in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. In August 2024, Hygenco Green Energies and Mitsubishi Power signed a MoU for producing green hydrogen/ammonia-fired gas turbine combined cycle (GTCC) power plants. The objective of the MoU is to make these integrated solutions available both in India and internationally.
