HIF Global announces green methanol project in Brazil

HIF Global, a leading green fuels company, announced a project to produce up to 800,000 tons per year of green methanol in Brazil. This is the company’s first such project in Brazil. It has signed a land reservation contract with Port of Açu to develop this green methanol facility. Meanwhile, the port will also provide support to HIF in several aspects related to project development.

The Port of Açu is located in the state of Rio de Janeiro and is an important logistics and industrial center. It has been positioning itself as a renewable energy player and has already obtained preliminary environmental license for the development of a hydrogen hub.

HIF Global is working on various projects worldwide to convert renewable energy into near carbon neutral green fuels. These green fuels are made to be used in existing engines. It is already producing green fuels at its HIF Haru Oni e-Fuels facility in southern Chile. Further, the company is also developing commercial-scale green methanol facilities in United States, Uruguay, Australia, and Chile.
