Cypress Creek acquires Steel River solar plus storage project in Arkansas

Cypress Creek Renewables has acquired the Steel River project from Swift Current Energy. The project is currently under development in Mississippi county, Arkansas. Once completed, the project will comprise 2.45 GW of solar capacity combined with 720 MW/2,900 MWh of battery energy storage system (BESS) capacity. The project will be developed and constructed in three phases.

Each phase of the project will include approximately 815 MW of solar capacity paired with 240 MW/960 MWh of BESS capacity, enabling gradual deployment of both solar and storage across the site. All phases of the project are expected to enter service by 2029. The addition of this project will increase Cypress Creek Renewables’ operational and under-construction portfolio to nearly 7 GW.

In November 2025, Cyprus Creek Renewable closed the financing and commenced construction on the 505 MWdc, or 396 MWac, Hanson solar project in Coleman county, Texas. The project, expected to be operational by mid-2027, reached financial close through a combination of preferred equity and debt financing. Debt facilities were provided by MUFG and SMBC, while preferred equity was backed by funds managed by an unnamed global credit asset manager with over $350 billion in assets under management.
