EDPR NA launches Crooked Lake Solar Park in Arkansas

EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) has launched the 175 MW Crooked Lake Solar Park near Blytheville in Mississippi County, Arkansas. This project will produce sufficient energy to power around 30,000 homes in Arkansas annually. The project, situated on land leased from local landowners, will bolster Arkansas’ electric grid.

The Crooked Lake Solar Park will create over 330 construction jobs and six permanent positions for ongoing operations and maintenance. It is expected to distribute approximately $106.2 million to local landowners and contribute an estimated $12.4 million in taxes to local governments over the course of its operation. Additionally, the project will conserve over 222 million gallons of water each year.

In January 2024, EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA) and EDP Renewables Canada (EDPR Canada) started operations at the 297 MW Sharp Hills wind farm in Sedalia and New Bridgen in Alberta, Canada. The power will be supplied to TC Energy, a Calgary-based company that operates in natural gas, oil, and power. A C$600 million investment was made to build the wind farm.
