Zetwerk, headquartered in Bengaluru and specialising in industrial and consumer infrastructure, has secured a deal with Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL) to install more than 1,400 fast chargers for electric vehicles (EVs) throughout India.
With the capability to charge two EVs simultaneously through dynamic load-sharing technology, these fast chargers span capacities of 50-60 kW and 100-120 kW. These dual-gun direct current chargers utilising combined charging system will be deployed in major urban centers and crucial highways to augment accessibility and ease for EV drivers. The collaboration will enable IOCL to offer customers cleaner energy alternatives, thereby lowering their carbon footprint.
Recently, in March 2024, the Ministry of Heavy Industries introduced the Electric Mobility Promotion Scheme 2024, allocating a budget of Rs 5 billion. The programme, which aims to promote electric two- and three-wheelers, which encompasses e-rickshaws, e-carts, and L5 category vehicles, is set to run for four months, from April 1, 2024, to July 31, 2024.
