Maharashtra issues EPC tender for 600 MW solar projects

Maharashtra State Power Generation Company Limited (MAHAGENCO) has issued a request for proposals for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) package, including land for up to 600 MW solar projects, including power evacuation system. To be located in Maharashtra, the projects will be set up as a part of renewable energy bundling programme, phase II.

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work encompasses identifying and securing necessary land, conducting design and engineering, procuring equipment and materials, testing at the manufacturer’s facilities, packaging and forwarding, transportation, supplying, receiving and unloading at the site, storage, insurance at all stages, related civil and electrical works, services, acquiring permits and licenses, installing, erecting, testing, and commissioning the solar projects. The developers are also required to carry out performance demonstrations, operational acceptance, and ensure the power evacuation system up to the Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission Company’s substations of 33 kV and higher. Furthermore, the winning bidder is responsible for projects’ operations and maintenance for a period of three years. The bidders are required to submit Rs 100,000 per MW as an earnest money deposit. The bid submission deadline is April 12, 2024.

The bidders must possess experience in executing EPC projects or developing ground-mounted solar projects, with a combined capacity of at least 30 per cent of the quoted capacity or higher. Additionally, at least one project should have a capacity of 25 MW or more at a single location.

Recently, in March 2024, NTPC Green Energy Limited entered into a joint venture agreement with MAHAGENCO to undertake the development of renewable energy parks in Maharashtra.
