Karnataka issues tender for 300 MW solar project

Karnataka Solar Power Development Corporation has invited bids to set up 300 MW grid-connected solar project. To be located at Pavagada solar park, the project has an estimated cost of Rs 8.93 billion. The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company will purchase the electricity produced from the project.

According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to submit Rs 89.29 million as an earnest money deposit. The developers are required to furnish performance security equaling Rs 446.44 million. The bid submission deadline is February 28, 2024.

To be eligible, the bidders must have successfully executed projects equivalent to at least 90 per cent of the tendered amount as the main contractor in the development of grid-connected ground-mounted large-scale solar projects. A prerequisite is the commissioning of a ground-mounted grid-connected solar project with a capacity of 240 MW, inclusive of a transmission line, within the past five years. The project must have been in satisfactory operation for a minimum of one year. The developer will be accountable for facilitating the evacuation of power from the solar project to the designated 400/220 kV PGCIL substation located in Pavagada Solar Park. The interconnection of the solar project should occur on the 220 kV side of the 400/220 kV PGCIL substation. The developer is responsible for covering any relevant charges and addressing energy losses up to the delivery point.

Additionally, the project must be completed within 12 months of work order issuance. Furthermore, only indigenously manufactured solar modules listed in the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers should be used in the project.

In July 2023, Gadag II-A Transmission, a subsidiary of ReNew Transmission Ventures announced that it got approval from the Ministry of Power to develop overhead transmission lines for solar projects totalling 1,500 MW in Gadag, Karnataka.
