Jodhpur Vidyut Vitran Nigam Limited (JDVVNL) has received approval from the Rajasthan Electricity Regulatory Commission (RERC) to procure electricity from 10 solar photovoltaic plants for 25 years as part of Component-C, feeder level solarisation, of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Scheme (PM-KUSUM). This approval follows a comprehensive review of JDVVNL’s request submitted under Section 63 of the Electricity Act, 2003, by the regulatory commission.
The sanctioned ceiling tariff for the solar projects has been established at Rs 3.55 per kWh under Component-C of the PM-KUSUM Scheme. The regulatory commission highlighted that distribution companies are required to employ the ceiling tariff in future bidding processes. However, they are required to consistently evaluate market conditions before each bidding round.
Recently, in October 2023, RERC granted approval to Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) for an average tariff of Rs 4 per kWh for the purchase of power from Solar Energy Corporation of India’s 490 MW of hybrid power projects (combination of solar and pumped storage).
In September 2023, RERC provided approval to RUVNL for the extension of power purchase agreement by five years with 12 wind power generators.
