Convergence Energy Services Limited (CESL) has issued a request for proposals (RfPs) for appointing an operator to purchase, supply, and do operations and maintenance of 3,600 electric buses. As a part of Pradhan Mantri ebus Sewa Initiative, the projects also involve establishment of electric and civil infrastructure on the basis of gross cost contract.
Within 28 days of receiving the letter of award, the developers are required to submit three to ten per cent of the contract value as performance bank guarantee. To be eligible, bidders must have a consistent history of producing and delivering electric buses, commencing from April 1, 2023. They are required to have produced and delivered a minimum of 25 electric buses in at least one of the past five financial years or in the current financial year. Additionally, they must possess an annual production capacity of minimum 500 electric buses before the deadline for submitting bids. Furthermore, the production facility must be situated in India. The bid submission deadline is December 14, 2023.
In January 2023, CESL issued RfPs to lease 3,500 electric four-wheelers to various departments and autonomous bodies across 18 states and union territories for a period of three to five years. In the same month, CESL floated bids for the procurement, supply, and maintenance of 4,675 electric buses.
