On June 28,2023, MNRE notified its scheme guidelines for implementation of “Strategic Interventions for Green Hydrogen Transition (SIGHT) Programme – Component II: Incentive Scheme for Green Hydrogen Production (under Mode 1)” of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. The scheme has a budget outlay of Rs 130.5 billion and will be implemented from 2025-26 to 2029-30.
A direct incentive in terms of ‘Rs per kg’ of green hydrogen production will be paid under the scheme for a period of three years from the date of beginning of green hydrogen production. Beneficiaries of the scheme will be chosen through a competitive process.
MNRE will implement the scheme through the SECI as the ‘Implementing Agency’. SECI will be responsible for secretarial, management, and implementation assistance, as well as other duties as allocated by MNRE from time to time.
