SDMC relaxes height norms for rooftop solar project in Delhi

The South Delhi Municipal Corporation has eased the norms related to the height of panels. Earlier, there was a 2-metre height regulation in Delhi, which has now been removed. The new rules allow rooftop panels at any height or level subject to the maximum height permitted by the Airports Authority of India and clearance from Delhi Fire Services. The by-laws have been amended and notified by the Delhi Development Authority. This is expected to facilitate the installation of rooftop solar systems in the city. For higher installations, more advanced and expensive mounting structures may be required along with a more robust base construction to ensure durability. Rooftop projects are technically more complex as each plant has to be customised according to the roof size and demand load.
