Andhra Pradesh grants approval for 10 GW solar project

The Andhra Pradesh government has granted approval to a proposal for setting up a 10 GW solar power project. The project is expected to ensure nine hours of continuous power supply to farmers during the daytime. This would further complement the power supplied by an integrated renewable energy project. The project was proposed in February 2020 with the aim to meet the energy requirements of the agricultural sector. Following this, the state government issued an order for setting up Andhra Pradesh Green Energy Corporation Limited, as a subsidiary of Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Limited, to install the 10 GW solar power plants.
