The Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulation Commission has approved Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation’s (TANGEDCO) plan to float tenders to add solar and wind capacity of 1,500 MW each in the state. TANGEDCO will invite three separate tenders for the development of grid-connected solar power projects of capacity 500 MW each. The wind power projects will also be issued in three phases of 500 MW each. According to TANGEDCO’s plan, the minimum capacity of the wind projects will be at least 25 MW. Both solar and wind projects are expected to be commissioned in 12 months. The tenders are likely to be issued in December 2018.
