The public works department is planning to undertake a bicycle track rooftop solar power system on both sides of the 12 km long stretch of Delhi’s Outer Ring Road under the 26-point green budget scheme. This will be the country’s first solar bicycle track corridor. On its completion, it is expected to generate 6 MW of clean energy. While some of the electricity will be used in powering street lights and associated infrastructure on the stretch, the rest will be sent to the grid.
