South Korea targets 58.5 GW of renewable capacity by 2030

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy of South Korea has announced its target to achieve 58.5 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030. It will account for a 20 per cent share in the country’s total generation mix by 2030, followed by natural gas, coal and nuclear energy at 18.8 per cent, 36.1 per cent and 23.9 per cent respectively. The targets are based on an estimated forecast for power generation over 15 years, till 2031. Currently, the country has 11.3 GW of installed renewable energy.
