As per the latest data released by the MNRE, 24 MW of canal bank and canal top solar projects have been commissioned as of March 6, 2017 while another 50 MW are expected to be installed by April 2017. These projects are a part of a programme that aims to develop 100 MW of grid-connected solar PV power projects on canal banks and canal tops. These are coming up in eight states: Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal, with project sizes ranging from 1 MW to 10 MW.
