UPPCL announces results for 375 MW/1,500 MWh BESS auction

Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has announced the results of its 375 MW/1,500 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) viability gap funding Tranche 2 auction. The winners of the auction include KCC Buildcon Private Limited and Agastya Energy Industries Private Limited. The companies secured capacities of 62.5 MW/250 MWh each at a tariff of Rs 6.45 per kWh each. Furthermore, MKC Infrastructure Limited secured the capacity of 187.5 MW/750 MWh at a tariff of Rs 6.46 per kWh. 

According to the tender guidelines, the scope of work covers setting up the BESS and its interconnection with the state transmission utility network, including the construction of the bay. The scope also covers land identification for the project. The tender was issued in September 2025, and the project will be developed under a build-own-operate basis.

Earlier, in November 2025, the Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission approved UPPCL to procure 300 MW of wind-solar hybrid power from NHPC at a tariff rate of Rs 3.56 per kWh.
