The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) has floated an expression of interest for the development of a 50 MW/200 MWh standalone battery energy storage system (BESS). The BESS will be set up at suitable 33/11 kV substations.
According to the tender guidelines, the bidders are required to propose suitable implementation models, business structures, and deployment processes at strategic locations suitable for operating BESS at the 33 kV voltage level. Each battery unit in the storage systems is required to have a capacity of 5 MW/20 MWh. Additionally, the tenure of the storage projects will be either 12 or 15 years.
Moreover, the BESS will have a maximum discharge duration of four hours during non-solar peak periods, with a minimum continuous discharge requirement of one hour. Charging of the energy storage systems will take place during solar hours. The successful bidders may either arrange the charging power independently or procure it from TSECL. The deadline for bid submission is March 9, 2026.
